HARRIS ADVISORY is led by Bruce F. Harris, a native of Dallas, Texas. He has spent his career in the financial and asset management sector with a diverse set of financial disciplines. His responsibilites range from the origination, structuring and managing of performing commercial corporate and real estate loans with local and regional borrowers, to that of underwriting, restructuring and monetizing higher yield special situation investments in debt-related investments representing senior loan and subordinate loan positions, secured by both real estate and corporate assets. Additionally, he is well-versed in situations requiring cash flow/viability, income/balance sheet statement analysis, the restructuring of debt, conversion to equity, as well as maximizing the value and monetizing underlying assets, which are typically illiquid assets such as real estate, corporate assets and financial interests such as limited partnership interests. Mr. Harris has dealt with performing situations that are purely yield based, but also higher yield, opportunistic investments involving situations where there is inadequate collateral and cash flow or a combination of the two.
He has worked closely with private financial and institutional partners and clients. These relationships arise from working with groups representing acquisition and sale side brokerage, directing third party services with legal, accounting, management, and consulting groups during the investment hold period, and interfacing directly with lenders, borrowers, owners and investment partners.
Mr. Harris has had direct responsibility for sourcing, underwriting, pricing, negotiating, closing and managing an investment through exit. Investment management activities include development, implementation and presentation of business plans, cash flow and disposition modeling, restructuring of investments, with exit strategy development and implementation.
Institutional investment partners have included Cargill, Goldman Sachs, and Varde Partners. Investment activity through his association with Treadstone Partners is represented by over $350 million in total equity capital employed for the acquisition, management and disposition of over $800 million in face value debt and direct asset acquisitions. As Contract Manager and Senior Asset Manager of what is now JER Partners, he was responsible for the management of commercial real estate loans and assets involving multiple portfolios of over $2.5 billion. These include special servicing activities for over $1 billion in CMBS/REMIC issues and advisory management of loan and REO portfolios of private financial institutions. Advisory management activities under his leadership generated in excess of $1 million in advisory fees.
Mr. Harris’ financial background also includes lending experience in corporate and commercial real estate with a regional commercial bank in Dallas.
Mr. Harris graduated with High Honors with an MBA from the University of Texas in Austin and received his BBA from Southern Methodist University. A native of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Harris also retains a Texas real estate brokerage license. He is an experienced speaker and member of Sunrise Toastmasters in Dallas. He is interested in working on community needs, especially those focused on affordable housing, community development and income equality.
